2019 Detroit Fashion + Tech Hackathon to be Held May 17-19

2019 Detroit Fashion + Tech Hackathon (DF+TH) is happening May 17-19 at Grand Circus in Detroit located at 1570 Woodward Avenue, Level 3, and is co-hosted by WHIM and Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC), an initiative of the MEDC.
Who: The format for the Hackathon includes multiple teams with two to five participants per team. At least one person per team will be familiar with writing code. Other team members may include designers, artists, retailers, entrepreneurs, product/data specialists, and creatives.
What: The 2019 DF+TH is a 36-hour weekend retail + apparel innovation challenge that merges fashion and technology disciplines to create solutions to problems facing the industry. The competition brings together designers, creators, and developers and provides networking opportunities with industry experts
Where: Registration is now open. Register at https://detroitfashionhackathon.com/registration/.Participants can sign up individually, in pairs, or as a team. Participants will be notified of the competition schedule prior to the event. An information session will be held on May 2 from 6-8 p.m. at WeWork, located at 19 Clifford St. in Detroit. Interested participants will be able to register for DF+TH during the information session.

Why: The DF+TH was created in 2018 as a strategic event to attract investment and create jobs for Detroit. Detroit has been home to creatives for many generations. With the goal of diversifying trades and manufacturing, the DF+TH has an opportunity to diversify technology and innovation to bring creatives together in a new and sustainable way.
